Step by step
- Drop one or more videos. The list shows the size, length and resolution of each file. If it says “no audio”, there is nothing to extract from that video.
- Choose the format: MP3 for small files that play everywhere, or WAV if you want to edit the sound afterwards.
- For MP3, set “Quality (MP3)” to 128, 192 or 320 kbit/s. For WAV this setting doesn't matter.
- Tap “Extract audio”. Several files are processed one after another with the same settings, and a bar shows the progress.
- Download the audio file. It has the same name as the video, just with the extension .mp3 or .wav. With several files there is “Download all as ZIP”.
What you can use it for
- Listening to talks and lectures again: Your own recording of a lecture, sermon or training session is easy to listen to on the go as an MP3, without keeping the screen on.
- Sound for video editing: If you want to edit picture and sound separately, for example to remove background noise, extract the soundtrack as WAV and put it back under the video later.
- Basis for transcripts and subtitles: Many transcription and subtitle programs work with pure audio files. An MP3 is smaller and quicker to upload than the whole video.
- Rehearsals and concerts: Band rehearsals, choir performances or music school recitals are often filmed on a phone. As MP3 they are easy to share with everyone involved.
- Sounds from your own recordings: Birdsong, waves or engine sounds from your own videos can be collected as audio files for your own projects.
What for?
For a talk as a podcast, the soundtrack of your own video for editing, or music and sounds from your own recordings. MP3 plays everywhere, WAV is lossless for further editing.

Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?
No. The audio is extracted from the video in your browser and saved as MP3.
Which quality should I choose?
192 kbit/s sounds very good for speech and music. 320 kbit/s is only worth it for high-quality music recordings.
Can I convert YouTube videos?
No, only files you have yourself. We don't download videos from other sites.
When is WAV better than MP3?
When you keep editing the sound, for example cutting, mixing or denoising it. WAV is uncompressed, which also makes it much larger than MP3.
Does 320 kbit/s sound better than the video itself?
No. The audio file can't be better than the soundtrack in the video. A higher setting only preserves more of what is already there.
Can I save just part of the audio?
No. The tool always saves the whole soundtrack. You can trim the file afterwards in an audio program.
What does “This file has no audio track” mean?
The video contains no sound, as with some screen recordings or clips that were already muted. Then there is nothing to save.
Can I join several videos into one MP3?
No. Each video produces its own audio file. You can join them afterwards in an audio program.
