Convert WebP to JPG

Convert WebP images saved from the web into JPG so every program can open them.

Drop images here

or tap to choose. Several files at once.

Choose files

Step by step

  1. Drag the WebP files into the box, for example from your downloads folder. Several at once work too, even mixed with other image formats.
  2. JPG is already selected as the output format. If the image has a transparent background, choose PNG instead.
  3. Keep the “Quality” slider fairly high. The WebP is already compressed, and a second strong compression would leave extra artefacts.
  4. Tap “Convert” and save the results one by one or with “Download all as ZIP”.

What you can use it for

  • Getting your own images back from a website: If you can only find your own product or project photos on your website, saving them often gives you WebP. As JPG they open and edit in any program again.
  • Photo prints and photo books: JPG is the usual format for prints and photo books. That way you don't have to find out first whether the provider handles WebP.
  • Inserting images into office documents: Not every office or layout program can insert WebP. As JPG, it works in word processors, presentations and spreadsheets without a detour.
  • Sharing with others: Practically every device opens JPG without asking. Sending images to family, clients or colleagues as JPG saves them hunting for a suitable program.

Why WebP causes trouble

Many websites now serve images as WebP because it's smaller. Save one, and you end up with a .webp file. Older image programs, many print services and some upload forms can't handle it.

How it works

Drop your WebP files, JPG is already selected, tap “Convert”. If you need transparency, set the output format to PNG.

Frequently asked questions

May I use images from other websites?

Converting doesn't change copyright. You need permission to use other people's images.

WebP with transparency – what should I use?

Choose PNG as the output format to keep the transparency.

Why is the JPG larger than the WebP file?

WebP compresses more efficiently than JPG, so JPG often needs more space for the same quality. If the file is too big for you, lower the quality a little or enter a target size in KB.

Does this work with animated WebP?

Only partly: the first frame of the animation is used. JPG can't store motion, so the result is a still image.

Does converting improve the image?

No. Only the file format changes. Detail lost when the image was saved as WebP doesn't come back. For more pixels, use the upscaling tool.

Can I convert AVIF images to JPG too?

Yes, as long as your browser can open AVIF. The same goes for other image formats you can view in the browser: just drop them in as well.

What quality should I choose?

For photos you want to edit further or print, 90 % or more. For sending or a website, the default 85 % is enough.

Is the file name kept?

Yes. Only the extension changes from .webp to .jpg. Images saved from the web often have cryptic names, though, so it's worth renaming the finished files sensibly afterwards.
